This includes the web site, the e-mail list, the forums, the irc services.
- Acceptable content policies.
- Do not post or communicate content that is of a racist nature, or that may be offensive to a particular race classification of people.
- Do not post or communicate content that is of a sexist nature, or that may be offensive to any particular gender classification of people.
- We encourage communications that is of a professional nature. Off-topic content such as jokes or political statements may be unwelcome by other members.
- Do not flame others. Insultive, negative comments about any group member are off limits. If you cannot exchange difference of opinions in a civil manner, please take the communications offline rather than use the mailing list.
- Commercial content
- Content should be of interest to the group at large, and not designed to only exploit the interests of a single business interest
- Lug Member Exception: if a member of the LUG is part of a commercial entity, such as a systems consultant, or works for a software vendor, they can provide information of interest to the group. These e-mails should be short and not be a frequent event
- Open-source nature, and preference of Linux. We don't discriminate against people who use proprietary or closed systems, and part of what we believe in is the inter-operation of Linux to Windows or Macintosh systems, however, content that is only about proprietary or closed-source software is generally not welcome.
